The Role

Statutory Accountant - Permanent

Reporting to: Group Finance & Reporting Manager

Kildare (Hybrid)

 

The Role:
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

Prepare accurate and timely statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS, FRS 101, FRS 102 and relevant Company law requirements.
Key role in preparing the Annual Report, to include co-ordinating with the ESG team on the implementation of CRSD reporting.
Ensure all financial statements (circa 50+ subsidiaries) are prepared in accordance with statutory requirements and company policies.
Coordinate and manage the external audit, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors and internal teams involved with the audit process.
Work closely with the tax team on year end tax figures and note disclosures.
Prepare and provide necessary documentation and information to auditors and ensure audit progresses as per agreed timelines.

Implement audit recommendations to improve financial processes and controls.
Ensure compliance with all relevant Irish statutory requirements and regulations.
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations and propose changes in accounting practices and policies where necessary.
Manage ongoing reviews of internal finance policies and update as required.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Co-ordinate required Code of Practice disclosures for half year and year end, including preparation of finance disclosures and liaising with internal departments to obtain and review other required disclosures.
Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in financial reporting and compliance.
Liaise with the BI team to create new or improved reports within the Oracle BI system as needed to enable continuous improvement of financial reporting within the Group.
Conduct detailed financial analysis to support senior management decision-making.
Prepare ad hoc financial analysis as required and responses to financial queries from internal and external stakeholders, as necessary.
Work closely with other finance team members to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Provide financial guidance and support to other departments as needed.
Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's, objectives.

The Person

The Person:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes:
Big 4 Qualified Accountant (ACA) Level 8 Hons Degree in Accountancy, Business or related discipline.
Technical Proficiency: Strong technical knowledge accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex financial data and provide insights.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with auditors, external and internal stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective solutions.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Systems: Strong excel skills and Oracle / BI experience an advantage.
